The effort filter changes the contest

An effort setting should change which OSRS methods compete for the top rank. Applying a small score penalty after ranking would still allow a high-click method to dominate a low-effort search.

I compared three live requests on 22 August 2026. Each used members access, 100 million GP, level 99 skills, and no Wilderness methods. Only the effort setting changed.

These are separate candidate groups. The tool filters for the chosen effort before it sorts eligible methods by estimated profit. That is why the lower-profit camphor result can be the correct answer for an AFK-ish request. Its reviewed loop includes about two minutes of hands-off time, while the marlin method expects continuous high-speed inputs.

The OSRS Money Maker finder then shows up to three matches from the selected group, with requirements, cadence, risks, and current prices beside the rank.

This makes the setting a real constraint. A player choosing low effort is saying that frequent clicks are outside the search, even if they pay more. The resulting list may earn less per hour, but it answers the question that was actually asked.

The figures above are dated snapshots. Prices can move, and the top method inside each effort group can change.
